Development Chef Jobs description
The development chef is first and foremost associated with the research and development activities related to a hotel or a restaurant. The development chef has to focus on his or her employer's food services business and create plans for expansion, promotion, and development. The development chef also has to present innovative culinary ideas for application in the workplace.Development chefs work with clients, major food manufacturers, and large food retail chains. They are expected to create new food concepts, to evaluate new products, and to test new recipes and assess their potential impact on public health. Other responsibilities of the development chef include menu development, enhancement of manufacturing concepts, and formulation of new culinary policies.
Candidates applying for development chef jobs are expected to have at least five-plus years of experience in the culinary field and the food manufacturing industry. They should also possess ample knowledge regarding a variety of cuisines. Having a degree in food science is preferable if one is applying for a development chef position.
