Anyone working as a chef on board a yacht will tell you that it is an exciting challenge and financially rewarding as well. A career on this luxurious vessel requires extensive planning, the ability to work at sea, and a touch of ingenuity.

Aboard yachts, chefs do their own provisioning and preparation of meals for the guests & crew. Yacht chefs are also responsible for keeping the galley clean at all times.

To become a yacht chef, you may or may not have formal training. However, it would help knowing that great yacht chefs have experience, a gift for cooking, inventiveness, and the ability to keep a cool head under pressure. This is because guests on board can sometimes become increasingly demanding.

The nature of the job is such, that it demands a chef on board a yacht to have the quintessential abilities to produce exotic meals from ordinary ingredients and continually present new and exciting dishes. You never know who may be dining. The guests may be an influential politician or a famous entertainer. But whoever they are, they are people used to fine taste and quality.

Of all the skills required to be a highly successful yacht chef, perhaps the most important is the ability to manage people, especially within the confines of a yacht. This can prove to be the biggest challenge that a chef may experience.
