Position Description
The Baker partners with the Mixer to put dough into the extruder, assures that the dough is stretched, dusted, sized, cut, raised, baked/toasted and sent to the next phase of production. This important role greatly influences the quality of the products. All procedures and practices used are grounded in standards, regulations and laws addressing food safety and food quality, as well as environmental safety in accordance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary. 1. Maintain understanding of production schedule for each shift and how it influences the work to be done2. Understand equipment being used as well as basics of the dough being mixed3. Understand the baking process in great detail and adjust machines appropriately to assure an excellent process and results4. Identify problems with the dough through knowledge of formulas/recipes, correct ingredients to be used, including water, and understands how water, temperature and humidity affects the dough and uses that information to communicate promptly with the mixer to improve the dough formula for baking5. Monitor equipment for safety and performance including: extruder, nozzles, dusters, scales, belts, ovens, conveyors, cutting belts and blades6. Monitor baked products for texture, consistency, rising, color and baking/toasting effectiveness7. Support and assure the implementation and monitoring of food safety and food quality standards, regulations, laws and good manufacturing practices and communicate concerns or opportunities for improvement8. Keep work environment clean, safe and support continuous improvement9. Primary focus of all business related efforts are and must remain that of promoting excellence in all ConAgra Foods productsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma• Requires a minimum of two years of progressive work experience preferably food production• Requires a working knowledge of food safety and food quality standards and regulations such as SQF 2000 and environmental safety regulations along with a commitment to continuous improvement• Requires basic mathematical skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide combined with the ability to read and interpret formulas and recipes, and calculate proportions, rations and ingredient amounts • Team player, positive attitude, works well with others, and communicates effectively with all associates.• Requires effective and clear written and oral communication skills to clearly communicate with other team members• Requires teamwork ability with a positive attitudePhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. • Occasional sitting• Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, grasp or touch objects and tools• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, squatting, stooping, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending, reaching • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
