Prepares food items according to standard menus, recipes and verbal instructions using available kitchen equipment. This includes deep fat frying.
Determines and orders selected menu items from central kitchen.
Maintains necessary food and non-food supplies for assigned meals.
Operates standard cooking equipment.
Inspects, evaluates and reports equipment and facilities conditions on safety and sanitation; suggests corrective action.
Participates in the cleaning of the kitchen, cafeteria and equipment.
Observes proper receiving and storage practices.
Maintains accurate employee time records.
Requests maintenance and repairs of all equipment as needed.
Maintains current recipe file.
Opens and closes the kitchen daily.
Verifies daily bank deposit. Signs off on work sheet.
Trains, manages and supervises employees.
Performs initial openings and final closing of kitchen for the operating year.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Reports to Nutrition Services Manager.
Possession of valid State of Washington Food and Beverage Service Worker’s Permit.  High school diploma or equivalent; two years experience in food service, including one year experience in quantity food preparation. 
Knowledge of:
fundamentals of cooking; methods and practices of ordering,
producing and serving food in large quantities.
Ability to:
perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements;
meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations;
work within a schedule; plan, organize, coordinate, and train;
prepare and maintain accurate reports and records;
maintain good student, staff and community relations;
lift 50 lbs. without assistance.             
Nutrition Services salary classification D ($17.52 per hour), 40 hours per week, for up to a 180 day annual assignment.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement that requires a membership or representation fee as an ongoing condition of continued employment after an individual is hired.
